Retired Capt. Edmund M. Waller, Jr., SC, USN, 83, passed away on August 9. Captain Waller retired after 24 years of active naval service while serving at Naval Supply Systems Command Headquarters, Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina and his master’s degree from George Washington University. Duty stations also included USS Cambria (APA 36); Navy Supply Corps Schools, Athens, Georgia; Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ELEVEN, Naval Air Station, San Diego, California; Supply Officer, USS Comstock (LSD 19); Aviation Supply Office, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; USS Bushnell (AS 15); Office of the Comptroller of the Navy, Washington, D.C.; Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), Washington, D.C.; Naval Support Activity, DaNang, and Naval Advisory Group, Saigon, Vietnam; Naval Support Activity, Naples, Italy; and Service Squadron SIX. He also was a member of the Charlottesville American Legion and the Charlottesville Elks Lodge. He is survived by three daughters and two sons. Funeral services and interment, with full military honors, will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
