SHSN Yarbrough, the most junior Ship’s Serviceman at the time and SHCS (SW) Birdine. The sales division of USS Anzio (CG 68) received the fiscal year 2014 Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) Ship’s Store Retail and Services Excellence Award. Commander Carrier Strike Group Two Rear Adm. DeWolfe Miller III, Chief Executive Officer Robert Bianchi, Capt. Joan Oldmixon, and NEXCOM Vice President Charlie Vaughn were on hand to present the awards to the S3 Division for their command contributions to the ship’s mission through exemplary performance and positive impact on the crew’s morale. The efforts put forth by the S3 Division of USS Anzio yielded $217,000 in sales, $43,000 of which was donated to Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), and a Supply Management Certification score of 97.67 percent. “When I took over as the S3 Division Officer, I wanted to ensure that we had the best selection possible for our Sailors while underway. I accomplished this through trial and error of ordering new items and seeing which were hits with the crew and not reordering the duds”, said then Ensign Darrell Deitenbeck. “I could not have accomplished this amazing feat without the forceful backup provided by my outstanding Ship’s Serviceman (SH). I gave SHC Lesane a specific mission to order new items as often as possible and to ensure that all services ran as smoothly and professionally as possible, he did not disappoint.” [caption id="attachment_4629" align="alignleft" width="300"]
