Deborah P. Haven Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced that the President has nominated Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Deborah P. Haven for promotion to Rear Admiral. Rear Adm. Haven is currently serving as commander, Defense Contract Management Agency International, Chester, Virginia. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rear Adm. Haven earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the University of Maryland and a Master of Business Administration from La Salle University. Haven received her commission through the Reserve Direct Commission Officer program. Her previous reserve assignments include commanding officer, United States Fleet Forces Logistics Support unit; commodore, THIRD Navy Expeditionary Logistics Regiment; commander, Task Force FORTY-EIGHT; commanding officer, Operational Logistics Detachment, Commander Naval Forces Central Command; commanding officer, Navy Cargo Handling Battalion NINE; officer in charge, Navy Cargo Handling Battalion TEN, Norfolk Detachment. She was the executive officer of both the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Acquisition Unit and the Defense Reutilization Team, Columbus. Rear Adm. Haven was activated to support Operation Unified Response at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as chief of staff of Task Force FORTY-EIGHT. She was deployed to Kuwait for seven months, supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom II as the chief of staff for Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Group Forward Alpha. Additionally, she was called to active duty during Desert Storm and served as customer service and combat logistics force officer, assigned to Navy Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Norfolk (now known as the Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk).
