Capt. Michael Hoyt

Capt. Michael Hoyt, SC, USN (Ret.), 74, of Great Falls, Virginia, died April 24, 2013, with his wife and children by his side at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, after a two-year battle with leukemia. He was born Feb. 26, 1939, in Chicago. On Sept. 12, 1962, he married Evanne Grommesh in Casselton, North Dakota. Capt. Hoyt served in the United States Navy for 28 years; among his many posts were Guam, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and three tours of duty at sea. After retirement from military service, he worked for the Multinational Peacekeeping Force in the Sinai Peninsula, the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, and Montgomery County (Maryland). Capt. Hoyt is a Vietnam War veteran and a Purple Heart medal recipient. His wife, four children, and their spouses survive him.
