CS2 (SW/AW) Courtney Kelly was recently recognized for her hard work and dedication aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) with her selection as Petty Officer of the Quarter, first quarter 2014.     A native of Chicago, she joined the Navy in September 2008 as a seaman. After boot camp, she attended culinary specialist “A” school and graduated at the top of her class. She reported to USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in March 2010, and continued to excel, quickly making a name for herself as a dedicated Sailor and role model to her peers.     With the ship’s schedule full of high-tempo operations and events such as the 2011 Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf deployment, Operation Tomodachi, Docking Planned Incremental Availability (DPIA) and two home port changes, CS2 Kelly always maintained a professional attitude and quickly advanced through the ranks to second class petty officer.     CS2 Kelly consistently delivers positive and substantial results in USS Ronald Reagan’s hotel services division. She leads a team of 25 culinary specialist and food service attendants in maintaining the cleanliness and material condition of over 500 spaces. In addition, she supervises the daily laundry services for over 400 Reagan officers and Carrier Air Wing Two staff.     “I am much honored to have been selected—hard work does pay off.” CS2 Kelly said. “This could have not happened without my mentor and the leadership in my department. I hope that I can be the extra push to others that need strength to achieve their goals, never give up, and give it all you got! I will support my Sailors and peers the same way I have been supported. Always give back!”     She plans to make the Navy a career. Her ultimate goal is to become a chief petty officer. She plans on furthering her Navy career by continuing her education, maintaining her outstanding performance, and by helping her junior Sailors and peers along the way in her next duty station at Naval Consolidated Brig Miramar, California.
