BY D.C. PIPP, DIRECTOR DEFENSE LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT STANDARDS OFFICE The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (Washington D.C. Chapter) has awarded the IT Leadership Award (Joint Officer) to Cmdr. Jason Morris. This award recognizes a member from each branch of the military that has made a significant contribution to the warfighter through the use of information technology. The award is given to a member from each of the U.S. armed services and those assigned to a Joint billet during the time of their demonstrated leadership. Cmdr. Morris is currently the deputy director of the Defense Logistics Management Standards Office where he is tasked with implementing the Department of Defense-wide replacement of the legacy Military Standards Systems transaction formats with the Defense Logistics Management Standards utilizing electronic data interchange based on the American National Standards Institute Accredited Standards Committee X12 standard and World Wide Web Consortium compliant eXtensible Markup Language. This will establish a broad base of business process rules, data standards, and electronic business objects (information exchange forms) designed for total logistics support to the warfighter.
