Navy Food Management Team (NFMT) New London instructor CSCS Rick Watts teaches a class last month at the Washington Navy Yard’s Admiral Gooding Center. He, along with SFC David Livermore, also of NFMT New London, and CSC Giovanka Minott of NFMT Norfolk spent a week training 30 culinary specialists from several high profile commands throughout the National Capitol Region. The training covered topics such as ServSafe certification, culinary math, FSM3 (Food Service Management), forms and records, and others. The training provided there by NFMT instructors was refresher training for some and provided even more in-depth knowledge on topics the culinary specialists need to know for advancement and for when they transition to an afloat command. The students appreciated the opportunity to receive such valuable training that increased their knowledge and their confidence in their ability to provide the best possible food service to the people they serve.
