BY TINA C. STILLIONS, DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS, NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER YOKOSUKA NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Yokosuka hosted an Operational Logistics (OPLOG) Symposium April 27 as an opportunity to discuss theater logistics priorities with key stakeholders. Participation in the symposium included the supply and logistics community from Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet; U.S. 7th Fleet; Commander, Amphibious Force, U.S. 7th Fleet; Commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific (CTF-73); Defense Logistics Agency (DLA); Military Sealift Command; and Commander, Navy Region Japan, U.S. Naval Forces Japan. “A primary NAVSUP Global Logistics Support and NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka focus is providing critical logistics coordination to afloat and shore Navy customers to enable fleet operations,” said NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka Commanding Officer Capt. Jeffery Davis. “We were able to leverage the OPLOG Symposium to sharpen our shared operational context to synchronize logistics support planning and execution.” Discussions were anchored by warfighter perspectives on operations plan support and logistics synchronization in the Asia-Pacific area of responsibility, and focused on the unique requirements of supporting forward deployed naval forces in the Navy’s largest overseas region. “Our discussions were substantive and allowed key stakeholders, including Pacific Command, 7th Fleet, CTF-73 and DLA Pacific logisticians, to come together and map out key considerations and assumptions that shape how we must plan to execute in the Asia Pacific region,” said Davis. The strong teamwork on display during the event reflected shared focus on ensuring effective logistics execution. It allowed participants the opportunity to map out what key considerations they impact. “We look forward to continuing to use the OPLOG Symposium,” said Davis. “It’s an important part of a larger ongoing dialogue necessary to help fleet and shore partners develop logistics solutions integral to theater operations.” September/October 2017
