Rear Adm. Forrest retired in June 1975 after 30 years of active naval service while serving as Auditor General of the Navy, Office of the Comptroller, with additional duty as Director of the Naval Audit Service, Falls Church, Virginia. A graduate of the Naval Academy, he received his master’s degree from Stanford University and attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Duty assignments included: USS YMS-442; USS YMS-414; USS YMS-438; USS Partridge (AM 16); Naval Shipyard, Charleston, South Carolina; USS Hyman (DD 732); Bureau of Supplies and Accounts, Washington, D.C.; Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet; Comptroller, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Oahu; Aviation Supply Office, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Supply Officer, USS Saratoga (CVA 60); Staff, Industrial College of the Armed Forces; Executive Officer, Navy Fleet Material Support Office, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Assistant Fleet and Force Supply Officer, Commander Service Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet; and Deputy Commander, Military Traffic Management and Terminal Service, Washington, D.C.
