For the fifth year in a row, LATINA Style magazine has named the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) as one of the top 50 companies that are providing the best career opportunities for Latinas in the U.S. Of NEXCOM’s 13,000 associates worldwide, over 11 percent are Latinos and nearly eight percent of that are Latinas.
“I am proud to lead an organization that believes in the power of diversity and demonstrates that commitment every day,” said NEXCOM Chief Executive Officer Robert J. Bianchi, “Our organization and our communities are becoming more and more diverse. The more we understand, appreciate and accept each other’s differences, as well as our similarities, the stronger, more cohesive and more effective we will become – both as an organization and as a community. I truly believe that it is our diversity that makes us stronger as a command, as a Navy and as a nation.”
Companies responding to LATINA Style’s questionnaire are evaluated based on issues that LATINA Style magazine readers identified as most important to them in the workplace. Among the principal areas of evaluation are: number of Latina executives, Latina retention, mentoring programs, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, employee benefits, women’s issues, job retraining, affinity groups and Hispanic relations.
