The Chilean Naval Academy training ship TS Esmeralda (BE 43) pulled into the NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Pearl Harbor hotel pier July 27, 2016 for a scheduled port call to fuel up and load provisions before heading east to Japan, China, and Singapore. The training vessel has 300 midshipmen from the Chilean Naval Academy. Their training cruise consists of various port calls in nine countries. The underclassmen experienced their first underway where they learned basic navigation, seamanship, and watch standing, while the recent graduates and newly commissioned officers had the opportunity to hone their leadership skills.
