Retired Capt. Gregory A. Brown, SC, USN

Retired Capt. Gregory A. Brown, SC, USN, 67, passed away on Sept. 3. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s College. Drafted into the United States Navy, he served initially as a personnel man and over time was promoted to Captain in the Supply Corps. Brown retired in July 2001 with 30 years of active service after serving at Naval Audit Service Headquarters, Falls Church, Va. He received his bachelor’s degree from Chapman University, Calif., and his master’s from National Defense University, Washington, D.C. Duty stations also included: Defense Inspector General, Washington, D.C.; USS Tarawa (LHA 1); Naval Air Station North Island, Calif.; USS Constellation (CV 64), San Diego, Calif.; Naval Supply Depot, Guam; Fleet Aviation Specialized Training Group Pacific, North Island, Calif.; Naval Air Station Barbers Point, Hawaii; and USS Forrestal (CV 59). Following his retirement, he served as a civilian employee for the Naval Audit Service. He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters. Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
