August 2013 Retirements

Cmdr. Joseph Espino

     Cmdr. Joseph Espino, SC, USN, completed 28 years of active service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at Norfolk Ship Support Activity, Norfolk, Va.  He received his bachelor’s degree at Texas A & M University, College Station, Texas and his master’s degree at U. S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif.  His previous duty stations include Defense Supply Center Columbus Detachment, Philadelphia; Mobile Construction Battalion 5, Port Hueneme, Calif.; Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters, Patuxent River, Md.; USS Inchon (MSC 12); USS Osprey (MHC 51) and Naval Air Facility Adak, Alaska.

Cmdr. Scott McCain

     Cmdr. Scott McCain, SC, USN, completed 23 years of active service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at Commander, Military Sealift Command, Washington Navy Yard, D.C.  He received his bachelor’s degree at Rensselaer Poly-tech Institute, Troy, N.Y. and his master’s degree at Navy War College, Newport, R.I.  His previous duty stations include Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Va.; Program Executive Office Submarine, Washington, D.C.; Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.; USS John Stennis (CVN 74); Naval Inventory Control Point, Philadelphia and USS Miami (SSN 755).

Cmdr. Eric Miller

     Cmdr. Eric Miller, SC, USN, completed 21 years of active service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at Program Executive Office, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.  He received his bachelor’s degree at The University of Arizona, Tucson, Ariz., and two master’s degrees at Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, N.H.  His previous duty stations include Commander, Navy Special Warfare Group, Little Creek, Va.; Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Norfolk, New London Site, New London, Conn.; Commander, Navy Region Northeast, Naval Submarine Base, Groton, Conn.; U. S. Commander-in-Chief, U. S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.; U. S. Naval Forces Central command, Manama, Bahrain; USS Oklahoma City (SSN 723); USS Saginaw (LST 1188); Military Sealift Command Atlantic, Bayonne, N.J. and Commander, Naval Forces Korea Detachment 119, Seoul, Korea.

Cmdr. Elnora Winn

     Cmdr. Elnora Winn, SC, USN, completed 20 years of active of service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at Office of Naval Intelligence, Washington, D.C.  She received her bachelor’s degree at Southern University, Baton Rouge, La., and her master’s degree at U. S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif.  Her previous duty stations include Naval Supply Systems Command, Washington, D.C.; Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, San Diego; Naval Support Facility, Diego Garcia; Afloat Training Group, Norfolk, Va.; USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81); USS Pensacola (LSD 38) and USS Kearsarge (LHD 3).

Lt. Cmdr. Edward Cavins

     Lt. Cmdr. Edward Cavins, SC, USN, completed 20 years of active service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at Mine Countermeasures Squadron 5, Manama, Bahrain.  He received his bachelor’s degree at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Ore., and his master’s degree at U. S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif.  His previous duty stations include Commander, U. S. Naval Forces Central Command and Commander, U. S. 5th Fleet, Manama, Bahrain; Ship Support Office Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China; Defense Logistics Information Services, Battle Creek, Mich.; USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54); Naval Strike and Warfare Center, Fallon, Nev. and USS Bunker Hill (CG 52).

Lt. Cmdr. Timothy Grasmick

     Lt. Cmdr. Timothy Grasmick, SC, USN, completed 26 years of active service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at Navy Recruiting District Denver, Denver, Colo.  He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degree at The University of Phoenix, Phoenix, Ariz.  His previous duty stations include Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center, San Diego; U. S. Naval Supply Facility, Thurmont, Thurmont, Md.; Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Okinawa, Okinawa, Japan and USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70).

Lt. Cmdr. David Roberts

     Lt. Cmdr. David Roberts, SC, USN, completed 20 years of active service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at U. S. Navy Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif.  He received his bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University, Tucson, Ariz., and his master’s degree at U. S. Navy Postgraduate School, Monterey.  His previous duty stations include Defense Distribution Region West, Stockton, Calif.; USS Ogden (LPO 5); Naval Submarine Support Facility New London, Groton, Conn.; Personnel Support Detachment Rota, Spain and USS H. W. Hill (DD 986).

Lt. Matthew Saavedra

     Lt. Matthew Saavedra, SC, USN, completed 20 years of active service and retired Aug. 1, 2013 after serving at Headquarters, Supreme Allied Command Transformation, Norfolk, Va.  He received two bachelor’s degrees at Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz.  His previous duty stations include Patrol Coastal Squadron ONE, Norfolk; USS Elrod (FFG 55); U. S. Naval Mobile construction Battalion 1, Williamsburg, Va. and U. S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5, Point Hueneme, Calif.
