NAVSUP Spotlights Supply Enlisted Ratings at Sea-Air-Space Expo

     Sailors from all three ratings were on hand throughout the days of the expo, educating attendees about the significance of Navy supply and their roles within the supply chain.

     “Culinary Specialists (CS), Ships Servicemen (SH), and Logistics Specialists (LS) are in key positions to provide for the needs of our Sailors and the fleet,” explained NAVSUP Commander, Rear Adm. Mark Heinrich.

     “They get it — literally, and they know how to fight logistically,” he added.  “They get the supplies and parts to keep planes, ships, and submarines moving.  They stock our ships stores.  They serve up great food with a smile.  They keep our Navy humming, and they are critical in a fight.”

     NAVSUP’s exhibit featured five daily cooking demonstrations, accompanied by twice-daily educational sessions with NAVSUP’s corporate registered dietician on the “Go For Green” campaign, which helps Sailors make healthy food choices.

     “It’s no stretch to say the Navy could not operate without our supply enlisted logisticians,” Rear Adm. Heinrich said.  “NAVSUP is proud to have the opportunity to highlight the work they do — from providing meals, to accounting for parts, to providing laundry services.  The work of our supply enlisted personnel is fundamental, indispensable, and requisite to maintaining and protecting America’s interests at sea every day.”

     The Sea-Air-Space Exposition is the largest maritime symposium in the world, attracting nearly 10,000 attendees.  It featured more than 150 defense industry exhibits and professional seminars with top civilian and military leaders from the U.S. Department of Defense, Homeland Security, Maritime Administration, and the defense industry who provided up-to-the-minute developments on policy and programs of the maritime services.
