NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville Expanding Operational Logistical Reach to Panama

Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Jacksonville, Fla., has increased its operational logistical engagement within the U.S. 4th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR) with the first successful delivery of the Subsistence Prime Vendor (PV) contract in Panama this past January.

Supreme Foodservice completed the delivery to USS Gary (FFG 51) as the ship wasberthed in Vasco Nunez de Balboa, Panama.

The PV delivery was the culmination of two years of dedicated effort and expertise by NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville, 4th Fleet, and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support.  The successful completion of this PV delivery makes NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville unique in that FLC Jacksonville personally manages the function remotely from Naval Station Mayport, Fla., for ships that pull in to both Pacific and Caribbean ports of Panama.

Units operating in the 4th Fleet AOR should see immediate and enduring benefits from this PV contract as it will provide menu and price stability.

“After a two long years of hard work, we couldn’t be happier about the success execution of the PV delivery model into the SOUTHCOM AOR,” explained Capt. Kevin Head, Commanding Officer, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville.  “Most importantly, I was very pleased to hear USS Gary report their satisfaction with the quality of the products and the familiar brands delivered.”

“The NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville team is dedicated to providing premier logistics support to our customers, and we are energized when we have the opportunity to expand our level of support to the fleet,” he added.
